Why I built it
Long threads slow down for a reason that has nothing to do with the model: the browser keeps every message that was ever rendered in the DOM. A few hundred messages later the page is carrying thousands of nodes, and typing starts to lag behind your keystrokes. People assume the service is slow when it is really their own tab running out of room.
How it works
The extension watches the conversation container and removes older messages from the render tree once you pass a threshold you set, keeping only the recent window live. Nothing is deleted on the server — scrolling back or reloading brings everything straight back. It also shows how many messages are currently rendered versus hidden, so you can see what it is doing.
